Hospital Discharge Review

November 16th, 2011

Walsall LINk are reviewing the process of being discharged from Walsall Manor Hospital into continued care in the community. This continued care can be delivered by a number of different agencies including care homes, domicillary carers and even community nurses or midwives. Because there are so many different agencies involved it is a very complex process and patients are sometimes finding that there is a gap between leaving hospital and actually receiving the continued care that they need.

We are trying to find out your experience as a patient who has recieved care at Walsall Manor Hospital and has been discharged needing extra care and support on your return to the community. We would like to use these experiences to let the hospital know what is currently working well  and where there are any gaps.  There is often  a simple solution to problems, but without the patient’s experience this can’t be highlighted.

If you have been discharged from Walsall Manor in the past 12 months and would like to share your experience to help make a real difference to patient care then click on the link on our homepage  www.walsalllink.org to download the questionnaire.

So many changes

July 29th, 2011

Sorry it’s been awhile since our last blog – it’s been so hectic keeping up with all the changes happening in and around health. Since the last post the LINk Board have been busy working with the Local Authority and other partners including MY NHS Walsall to make sure that HealthWatch in Walsall is “fit for purpose”. A term that we are all still a little unclear of at the moment, but are hoping to have a better understanding of as more information comes out from government.
As well as all the big changes nationally Walsall LINk are undergoing a change of their own, with the possibility of saying goodbye to 5 Board members. Thank you for all your hard work Maureen, Joan, Ray, Giovanni and Ismail. 5 Board more Board members will be elected at the AGM in September.
If you would be interested in becoming a Board member then look out for the packs coming through your letterbox shortly or get in touch with us here at the office.

Freshers Fair Success!!!!

October 5th, 2010

First of all Walsall LINk and all its members would like to say a big welcome to all of our brand new members!

Walsall LINk were at Walsall College Freshers Fair last week Monday to Wednesday promoting the LINk and it was a big success. We are happy to announce that we now have 200 new members joining us.

We hope all our new members will get involved and help make Walsall LINk a bigger and better organisation.

We also held a prize draw for new members which was won by Conner Evans (19) and he received a £25 iTunes voucher as his prize. Congratulations Conner!

Changes in the NHS!

September 15th, 2010

September is set to be a really busy month for the Walsall LINk team as we will be holding a consultation event on Saturday 18th September about the Government White Paper. The White Paper proposes big changes to the NHS and to the structure of LINks (further details can be found on our home page). It is important that we get as many views as possible as responses from the day will be put into a report which will be sent off to the Government before 11th October to help shape policy.

New website!

September 15th, 2010

We at Walsall LINk are really excited to have launched our brand new website! You will now be able to keep up to date with everything that your LINk has been up to with the click of a button, which means if you are on our mailing list and would like to stop receiving hard copies of meeting schedules through the post (saving hundreds of trees) then just let the LINk office know.
